We love the holiday season here in Atlanta. There are so many things to do, so many events that really put you in the holiday spirit. One place that we have gone for the past three years that hasn’t disappointed us yet is Holiday in the Park at Six Flags over Georgia.
If you’ve never gone before; it’s slightly different from a visit on a regular day. The park is lit up with beautiful lights, you have the sounds of Christmas music playing through the park, cozy fire pits, Christmas themed shows, Santa and, of course, rides!
I can’t emphasize enough on getting a season pass. It is so worth it! To even just once for every special event and a few times in the summer exceeds what you’ve paid for.
HINT: The season pass would make a great holiday gift!
The past few years we spent most of our time on the rides and taking photos, this year we opted in for a show and was very glad we did. Not only did it keep us toasty (it was cold that night), but the show was amazing! A cute show about two kids who just want their dad to come home for Christmas with the help of some special friends.
Afterward we grabbed a bite and then decided to write some letters to the big guy. They have the most adorable Post Office where you can write a letter and mail off. Directly across from the Post Office is where you can meet the big guy, but you do have to travel via train to get there. At least we did when we’ve visited him there. It makes the experience that much better, making it feel ‘real’.
He really wants Lego Dimension!
To keep warm beyond going inside, they have several heat lamps up. I highly suggest dressing warm, especially if you’re planning on going on the rides. My son is notorious for his asthma acting up when the cold air hits him, so we tend to make sure he is almost bundled up like Randy for the Christmas Story.
I will say the night can go by fast, there is so much to do and some areas the line can be long, especially with Santa, so plan that early if you are going with the kids.
If you can do one thing, I suggest the Carousel. It is so gorgeous with the entire are lit up, to sum it up, it looks almost whimsical and enchanting. I truly love going on the Carousel most of all at Holiday in the Park.
So, are you interested in going? You have 25 more days until Christmas and less than 35 before Holiday in the Park closes for the season! So here is what you do;
