If you know me, or at least follow my blog or social media then you know my sidekick is no other than my son. We do a lot together and he’s a pretty amazing person. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner I thought it would be the perfect time for a mother-son date night. This would be different from our other outings as I spoke to him about how he should treat a lady when he starts to date. I personally think he will be the perfect gentleman. Our date was at Medieval Times here in Atlanta. During our date I came up with 5 reasons to have a mother-son date knight at Medieval Times. Check them out below!
Disclaimer: I received tickets to share my experience, as always, my opinions are my own. Also, I realize I’m spelling night as knight, I just thought it was clever. 😉
5 Reasons to Have a Mother-Son Date Knight at Medieval Times
The Atmosphere

It’s not many places you can step back in time and experience a different way of life-like you can at Medieval Times. From the moment you’re greeted at the front door, you’re ushered into a Medieval castle fit for any king or queen. The total ambiance takes you into a renaissance movie, and every staff member totally plays the part.
While entering, you’ll receive a crown, notably colored to match your section and different from the other sections. This is what color the knight you’re rooting for is wearing. Once they’re ready for the guest to be seated, you’ll be ushered in to take your seat.
So why does the atmosphere make it great for a mother-son date knight at Medieval Times?
Most boys love the thought of being a king or knight. Make their dreams come true one night by taking them to a castle to get treated like royalty.
Action-Packed Entertainment
This seems like a no brainer to mention action-packed entertainment. If your son(s) are anything like my son then they love to wrestle, play fight and play with swords against their family members and friends. My son totally plays the part with anything that even resembles a sword. Stick anyone?
The entertainment is well executed. You can enjoy a dinner with the queen (or king) all the while watching your son’s eye fixated on the ground with excitement as they watch the knights fight to defeat.
Why is the action-packed entertainment a reason why I should have a mother-son date knight at Medieval Times?
It’s action-packed. Most boys love playing with swords and play fighting with other kids. At Medieval Times it’s coming to live before their eyes! Ever watched an action movie with a man? Yeah, that reaction. 😉
Weaponry
What goes hand-in-hand with action-packed entertainment of the medieval times other than weaponry? Swords are an item you’ll see for sure at Medieval Times. But you’ll also see the knights use; a mace or flail (couldn’t tell the difference from where I was sitting), axe, and wooden swords as well.
So why would weaponry be a reason to have a mother-son date knight at Medieval Times?
Boys tend to love playing to fake weapons. My son sure does, he has enough Nerf Guns to support an Army. Just as with the entertainment, boys love to see the things they play make-believe with come to life. When the knights are fighting, they’ll hear the sound of the metal clanking together and be able to see to sparks fly as metal hits metal. It adds to the entertainment and makes it that much more real to them to see.
Animals

During the show you’ll witness the power between the trainer and the horse. You’ll see 3 different types of horses during the show that all possess different traits that make them all unique to the presentation.
Pure Spanish horses are the grey or white horse you’ll see. They are more of a show horse and will be performing more of a choreographed piece for you to view. The Quarter horses are the fast horse you’ll observe the knights riding. They’re great horse for doing sprints. The Frisian horse is a strong horse that can carry a lot of armor. During the Renaissance era, these horses were used for war. They exhibit long manes and you’ll see these horse carrying the king and queen on to the field.
The falcon is one of the first acts you’ll experience at Medieval Times. With the castle quiet, the falcon will soar around the room before it returns back to its trainer.
Why would the animals be a reason for mother-son date knight at Medieval Times?
If your child is a lover of animals then they’ll be captivated by the beauty and elegance of the animals in the show. Personally, I not particularly a fan of animals in shows. I have been to a backstage tour and must say that I feel comfortable that the animals are being treated good and are truly loved by the staff at Medieval Times.
Food
What boy wouldn’t want a dragon to eat?! I love the fact that when being served they have adorable names for the dishes. The tomato bisque soup is dragon blood and my son remembers the potatoes being called dragon guts.
Personally we don’t eat meat (with the exception of seafood). Luckily for us Medieval Times has a vegetarian menu that serves our appetite.
Why would the menu at Medieval Times be a reason to have a mother-son date night there?
The food is actually good. I loved the humus and we love the soup, bread and even the vegetarian dish of rice, veggies and beans. But I think them calling the food names such as; baby dragons for the chicken is an adorable way to serve a meal during your visit at Medieval Times.
