If you’re in Atlanta, near Atlanta or planning on vacationing in Atlanta this summer, the place you need to visit is Stone Mountain Park. Great for families or just adults looking to have outdoor fun, Stone Mountain Park is the place to be! I love Stone Mountain, it’s such a family friendly place.
I received complementary tickets, my opinions are my own.
I went after work on Friday and stayed through the Laser Show, literally there for only 5 hours but still had a blast. I first went on the SkyHike, it was actually my first time since my son got scared the only time we went on it before. So I tackled it with my good friend from Sass N Spunks son. We made it up to the second level, and I must say, even though you’re supported with a harness to protect you from falling, it can still be a little bit intimidating, it totally depends on the person though.
The little ladies took on the smaller SkyHike more fit to their liking.
While we were there, the team at Stone Mountain provided dinner for us, of which consisted of fried chicken, pulled pork sandwiches, potatoes salad, baked beans and peach cobbler, it was a great meal that you can get if you chose the Dinner Lasershow. We also received a refillable cup of which is a great to get if you frequent Stone Mountain, fill-ups are only $1!! Even if you just go to hike the mountain or want to catch the laser Show!
Side note: I highly recommend getting the yearly parking pass if you frequent Stone Mountain, it’s about $40, but if you catch it on Groupon (when they have the deal available) you can get it for $32, or even less with a Groupon discount code!
After we ate we heading up to the top of Stone Mountain via the Summit Skyride, I feel like I cannot go there without taking pictures of the top, along with sitting up there gazing at the Atlanta skyline, it’s quite a beautiful sight. The weather that day was amazing!! Besides a little rain storm earlier in the day, we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. It wasn’t too hot, not cold, the sun was there but slightly behind the clouds, it was an absolutely beautiful day!
It was the first time at Stone Mountain for my two sidekicks that went with me, their mother took a bunch of photos, here are a few of my favorites!
They may look familiar, we tend to go to a lot of places together and they are very close to my son. we have tried and tried to get a jump photo and have only successfully got one in the past. They dominated this one though! I loved it, isn’t it awesome!!
We were strapped for time, so we didn’t stay at the top long, and I wanted the girls to experience The Great Barn before it closed for the night. If you’ve never been in The Great Barn then you’re missing out. I firmly believe that the adults have more fun then the children. It is three levels high with different tubes and guns to shoot balls at your loved ones 😉 It also has slides and trampoline floors, fun to say the least! It’s a great attraction to do if You are trying to take a break from the summer sun too.
Before watching the Laser Show, we spent a few minutes wandering around the Yellow Daisy store. The Yellow Daisy store sells handmade items from local sellers. They have some amazing stuff in there! Homemade dish detergent, laundry soap, bath soap, candles, etc. All the items smelled so good, it’s definitely worth stopping in to check it out. The fine staff at Stone Mountain had a craft set up for the kiddos this night, so we totally took advantage so these little ladies could show their super hero side!
We were lucky enough to sit on the Terrace to view the Laser Show and we sat in the Louisiana section. While sitting in this section does have a cost, we received unlimited popcorn, 1 drink and 1 ice cream. They had seats which made the viewing so much more comfortable. It was fun and again, very comfortable. If you’re interested in a Terrace seat, you can check out the cost of the seats HERE.
If you haven’t been to a Laser Show then add it to your list. As I mentioned before, the Laser Show is FREE besides parking. The Laser Show last approximately 1 hour and includes a few fire works during the show. They’ve updated it since last year so if you’ve been prior it’s worth going again.
I could spend all day at Stone Mountain! There is something for everyone and we always have a great time! If you’re coming outside of Atlanta (or even want to have a staycation), then you also need to check out their lodging options that include camping and a hotel stay.
So, what are your summer plans?
